At Ascendus, we believe that small businesses are the heart of thriving communities. But no one succeeds alone. That’s why we build strategic partnerships with banks, funders, and community organizations—because together, we can create greater opportunities for entrepreneurs who need them most.
One of our most impactful partnerships is with Bank of America, where a shared commitment to financial inclusion has allowed small business owners to access the capital they need when traditional banking isn’t an option.
For Yamileth Solorzano, Business Solutions Advisor – Assistant Vice President at Bank of America, this partnership has been a game-changer for her clients.
A Lifeline for Small Business Owners
At Bank of America, Yamileth´s role as is to help clients find the best financial solutions for their personal and business needs. But not every business qualifies for traditional financing.
“When clients come in asking for help and we can’t assist, it can be disheartening,” she shares. “But that’s where Ascendus comes in. Instead of turning them away, I tell them, ‘There is someone who can help you.’”
For many small business owners, that one connection makes all the difference.
Yamileth first learned about Ascendus six years ago, just before the pandemic, during a presentation to Bank of America’s business bankers.
“It was eye-opening,” she recalls. “I immediately saw Ascendus as a powerful resource for the clients we couldn’t support.”
Since then, she has played a key role in ensuring small businesses get a second chance at funding.
Real Impact: A Pathway to Growth
The impact is clear: 18 out of 30 businesses referred by Yamileth secured funding, demonstrating a 60% success rate.
“It was an incredible moment when I realized how many businesses I had helped move forward,” she says.
One of those businesses was a husband-and-wife duo running a mobile pet grooming service in Florida. Their business had expanded rapidly, growing to five mobile grooming vans across South Florida.
However, when they applied for funding at Bank of America, they didn’t meet the time-in-business requirement.
Instead of facing rejection, they were referred to Ascendus, where they secured a loan through the SSBCI Florida State Small Business Credit Initiative. This funding allowed them to expand their fleet and take their business to the next level.
“They had everything—great financials, strong credit—but they just needed the right partner to support their growth,” says Adriana Contreras, Lending Manager at Ascendus. “Through this partnership, we were able to make it happen.”
Why This Partnership Works
At Ascendus, we don’t believe in barriers—we believe in building pathways. That’s why our collaboration with Bank of America is so impactful.
What makes Yamileth’s approach unique is her sense of urgency and care. “If she can’t help someone, she gives them my number right away,” Adriana shares. “Many times, before they even leave the parking lot, they’re already calling me.”
This is how true community-building happens—through education, collaboration, and a shared commitment to seeing small businesses succeed.
The Future of Our Collaboration
The collaboration between Ascendus and Bank of America has been built on trust, shared values, and the belief that every small business deserves a chance to thrive.
“I’m incredibly grateful for this partnership,” Adriana says. “It’s something we’ve built over the last six or seven years.”
In 2024, Ascendus had the opportunity to recognize Yamileth’s dedication by awarding her ‘Banker of the Year’ for Florida.
“She’s truly amazing, committed to her clients and always thinking about how to support small business owners,” Adriana shares.
For Yamileth, the next step is expanding access for entrepreneurs with disabilities, ensuring that all business owners have the support they need to succeed.
Her words sum it up best: “Opportunity and inclusion—that’s what Ascendus is all about.”
Breaking Barriers, Building Communities
At Ascendus, we believe that small businesses do more than drive the economy—they bring communities to life. But no entrepreneur should have to navigate their journey alone.
Thanks to incredible partners like Bank of America, we’re building a network of opportunities that ensures every small business owner has the support they need to succeed.
