“All the skills I learned in three months, I can take and apply to the next ten years. Not only did I get better credit, but I learned to keep that credit up.”

Myesha Improves Her Credit in Under Three Months Through the Ascendus Get Ready Program

Myesha works tirelessly every day to provide for her community. During the day, she works as a Registered Nurse, and in the evenings, she provides small business advice to the entrepreneurs in her community. “Small businesses are the backbone of our communities. There are so many challenges that they face, and there is a tremendous need for services.”

BREAKING DOWN FINANCIAL BARRIERS WITH ASCENDUS

However, while Myesha was focusing on the needs of her community, she was finding it hard to meet her own small business needs. “My biggest challenge was funding. I helped small businesses with every aspect, from administrative work to website design to marketing and anything else they need. But it became a point where I needed to hire contractors. I couldn’t do it on my own anymore.”

For Myesha, the biggest barrier to receiving funding was her credit. “I used to be so discouraged when it came to my credit. I didn’t even want to look at it. But my loan consultant became my motivator. She helped me address my needs, produce a plan, and dedicate everything to making that plan work. Now, I can actually see the results. My collections fell off, my credit keeps improving, my credit score is so much higher, and now I can access a loan. All the skills I learned in three months, I can take and apply to the next ten years. Not only did I get better credit, but I learned to keep that credit up.”

Myesha graduated from the Ascendus Get Ready Line of Credit program in under three months, improving her credit and increasing her credit line from $500 to $5,000. “The credit increase was critical for my business. I was able to buy the essential equipment for my business: monitors, a desktop, a printer, so many things that seem simple but were out of reach for me before.”

THE COMMUNITY IMPACT OF A LOAN

Now, Myesha is even better equipped to help the small businesses in her community. “I have a client who owns a construction company. It was doing well until the need for technology became more prevalent. He was older, he didn’t know how to use a computer, and he didn’t even have an email address. I helped him get set up on the digital marketplace and taught him everything he needed to know about the technological aspect of running his business. Now, he has an electronic booking system, he is fully transitioned online, and he even uses emails instead of handwritten notes. It makes me feel really good to do something so meaningful for my community.”
