Growing “Girl Greatness” in Georgia and Beyond

Dr. Lisa T. Sistrunk has a vision of helping her community through the challenges in their relationships, education, and overall well-being. “Through my personal growth, development, and technology training agency, DH Elevation Consulting, I am working to guide my clients into intentional thoughts and actions, so they walk into a healthier and purpose-filled tomorrow.”

FUNDING FROM ASCENDUS TURNS DREAMS INTO A REALITY

Although Dr. Lisa had a solid business plan and a solid goal, she did not have the capital to see her goal come to life. “I wanted to reach more people and show them who we are and how we could help.” Due to credit challenges, Dr. Lisa was unable to receive a loan from a traditional bank. She reached out to Ascendus and received a $50,000 loan to extend her reach in the digital marketplace. “I used the funding to pay vendors, enhance our online presence, and fortify our systems to support our programs.”

One of Dr. Lisa’s prime programs is the “I Am Girl Greatness Movement,” geared towards girls 10–15 years old. “I work to support them in becoming more self-aware and self-accepting, so they will have better relationships with themselves and others and will have the knowledge and confidence to make better decisions. Often, when I ask a 12-year-old a question, they say, ‘I don’t know.’ I want to help them know. They have thoughts, they have voices, and they have emotions. They just do not always know how to express those things.”

Now, the “I Am Girl Greatness Movement” has the necessary resources to reach young girls outside of referrals. She is no longer only serving her community; she is helping girls across the nation find their voices and providing them the tools necessary to become confident and well-rounded. “These girls are in a place in their lives where a lot of change is happening, not only within themselves but in the world around them. Through my programs, I want to help them navigate those changes and create a space for them to find themselves.”

ACCESSING AND BUILDING CREDIT THROUGH ASCENDUS

To help build her credit, Dr. Lisa enrolled in our Line of Credit Program, becoming the first Ascendus client in Georgia to enroll in the program. “I have been in business for over 10 years, and I just took my first finance course. I was so risk-averse, so that is why I only ever used my own money. Through coaching from Ascendus, I learned how to use credit and gained knowledge, comfort, and confidence on how to best invest funds to grow my business. It feels amazing!”
